Precision-engineered biodegradable natural fibres for consistent, reliable performance.

Coir Netting

Ideal for steep slopes and embankments, disturbed ground, riverbanks, and coastal edges, our heavy-duty coir netting provides a strong and durable solution to landscaping, civil engineering, and environmental restoration issues (such as soil erosion due to water run-off or high wind activity). The versatile netting also acts as a protective cover for vegetated landscapes where plant growth is slow due to factors like poor fertility. Our netting is suitable for a range of climatic conditions, especially locations with extremes of temperature.

The netting is designed to encourage roots to establish themselves, helping vegetation anchor securely while minimising soil loss. Its structure also allows for planting through its mesh, making it ideal for areas where shrubs and plants are required.

Performance in Challenging Site Conditions

Where soil fertility is poor, gradients are severe, or climatic exposure is extreme, early-stage vegetation establishment is often compromised. Our open-structure coir netting:

  • Reduces surface particle displacement caused by water run-off
  • Minimises wind erosion on exposed slopes
  • Moderates surface moisture loss
  • Creates a micro-environment conducive to root establishment

As vegetation develops, root systems naturally interlock with the coir fibre matrix, forming a composite soil-root structure that enhances shear resistance and ground cohesion over time.

This staged performance – immediate mechanical protection followed by biological reinforcement – makes our coir netting particularly suited to infrastructure corridors, flood mitigation schemes, river restoration projects and coastal resilience works.

Ideal for steep slopes, embankments, disturbed ground, riverbanks, and coastal edges, our heavy-duty coir netting provides a strong and durable solution for landscaping, civil engineering, and environmental restoration projects – particularly where soil erosion occurs due to water run-off or high wind activity.

The versatile netting acts as a protective layer over exposed soil, making it especially effective in vegetated landscapes where plant growth is slow due to poor soil fertility or challenging site conditions.

Suitable for a wide range of climatic environments – including areas exposed to temperature extremes – the netting is designed to encourage root establishment. As vegetation grows, roots interlock naturally with the coir fibres, anchoring securely into the ground while significantly reducing soil loss.

Its open mesh structure also allows for direct planting through the netting, making it ideal for projects requiring shrubs, grasses, or other stabilising plants.

Features

Technical Performance & Features

  • Engineered Surface Protection
  • High tensile strength and tear resistance
  • Excellent structural stability under rainfall impact and surface runoff
  • Retains integrity when exposed to prolonged moisture
  • Suitable for moderate to high hydraulic environments (grade dependent)

The open mesh matrix reduces surface particle displacement and assists in sediment retention, gradually building surface stability as vegetation establishes.

Vegetation Establishment & Soil Reinforcement

  • Protects seed during germination
  • Hydroseeding compatible
  • Mesh structure enables plant-through growth
  • Water absorbent – improves microclimate conditions
  • Roots naturally interlock with coir fibres, forming composite soil-root reinforcement

This staged performance — mechanical protection followed by biological reinforcement — enhances slope cohesion and long-term erosion resistance.

Environmental & Lifecycle Performance

  • 100% organic and biodegradable
  • Gradual decomposition enriches soil structure
  • Lifespan: typically 2–5 years (climate and exposure dependent)
  • No persistent plastic residue
  • Suitable for biodiversity-focused and environmentally regulated schemes

The degradation profile aligns proportionately with vegetation maturity, ensuring structural stability transitions naturally to root-based reinforcement.

Installation

Step 1- Site Preparation

Clear the surface of debris, loose stones and sharp protrusions to ensure consistent soil contact.

Step 2- Placement

Roll out the coir netting downslope, ensuring full ground contact without tensioning.

Step 3- Fixing

Secure at a rate of approximately 2–3 pegs per square metre (subject to gradient and soil type), increasing density in high-exposure zones.

Overlaps should follow slope direction to prevent water ingress beneath joints.
