What is Salike® Drain Sheet?

The Salike® Drain Sheet is a highly effective erosion control method that helps safeguard soil integrity and prevent slope collapse. This innovative product utilises three key features to provide superior erosion restraint:

Drain Sheet” consists of polyethylene net and non-woven fabric containing flocculant.

Flocculants are substances that promote the aggregation of fine particles into larger clusters or “flocs” in a liquid. This process is essential in various industries, especially in water treatment, where flocculants are used to remove suspended particles from water. The particles form flocs that can then be more easily removed by filtration or sedimentation.  

Important Considerations: While the Salike® Drain Sheet offers excellent erosion resistance, factors such as application, weather conditions, and site-specific variables can influence the overall outcome. Proper installation is key to maximizing its effectiveness.

Erosion control test: The erosion control performance of the Drain Sheet against rainfall was tested using an artificial rainfall device (Photo 4.1). The test sections included a control section (bare soil), a Drain Sheet 30 section, and a Vegetation Sheet section. Each section was subjected to a rainfall intensity of 100 mm/h for a duration of 60 minutes. During the test, the volume of drainage, the clarity (transparency) of the drainage water, and the volume of outflow soil were measured at 5-minute intervals.
